ABOUT US
International Society for Krishna Consciousness came to New Orleans in 1971, starting humbly from a small house on the corner of Spruce St & South Carollton Ave, Uptown. Since fall of 1974 this magnificent temple in Mid city has been the residence of Sri Sri Radha Radhakanta Jiu, who is lovingly worshiped by many wonderful devotees using various paraphernalia as well as melodious music in the form of kirtan.
This is one of the few temples which was visited by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada personally in July 1975.
Srila Prabhupada named this center as New Sankirtan Puri, knowing that Harinam Sankirtan in all its glory will flow from here incessantly.
SRI GAURANGA MAHAPRABHU
The loving affairs of Sri Radha and Krishna are transcendental manifestations of the Lord's internal pleasure-giving potency. Although Radha and Krishna are one in Their identity, They have separated Themselves eternally. Now these two transcendental identities have again united in the form of Sri Krishna Caitanya. I bow down to Him, who has manifested Himself with the sentiment and complexion of Shrimati Radharani although He is Krishna Himself.
SRI RADHAKANTA JIU
Kṛṣṇa who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes. I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who is Śyāmasundara, Kṛṣṇa Himself with inconceivable innumerable attributes, whom the pure devotees see in their heart of hearts with the eye of devotion tinged with the salve of love.
SRIMATI RADHA RANI
O young girl intoxicated with passion, O goddess decorated with cheerful jealous anger, O goddess who passionately love Your beloved Krishna, O goddess learned in playful arts, O goddess expert at enjoying amorous pastimes in the kingdom of the peerlessly opulent forest groves of Vrindavana, when will You cast Your merciful sidelong glance upon me?
